Located in the South Park neighborhood of San Diego, Phase 1 for this charter elementary school project replaces aged portable buildings with classrooms for children in grades K-5th. Children will move into a new 2 story classroom building and an accompanying new single-story building that includes both classrooms and a multipurpose room. A learning courtyard and a kinder court are provided for outdoor learning and play activities between the buildings. Additionally, extensive site improvements to the exiting sports areas will be provided.

Also included in the project is a remodel to the existing multipurpose room to become an activity space and library as well as the creation of a new food service area for the students.
Building forms are inspired by the “International Style” architectural movement in support of the International Baccalaureate Program offered at the school. The main building color was selected to be compatible with the existing buildings on the campus with colors selected from the large on-site public art mural applied as accents throughout the project.
