Linear in nature, this 12- acre park touches the many residential, retail, commercial, recreational and cultural experiences available along San Diego’s Harbor Drive.

It provides an important linkage between downtown’s residential neighborhoods, visitor attractions and the waterfront, while transforming a previously unsightly railroad right of way into an attractive pedestrian friendly transportation corridor.

Some features of the park include a pedestrian walkway with landscaping, benches and artwork. There are also paces for bicyclists and joggers, plus those who prefer to rest or simply reflect.

Two information kiosks provide friendly assistance to visitors and residents alike. A multi-purpose arts program which has been implemented includes 15 granite pavers along the walkway focusing on Dr. King’s philosophy. A major sculpture by world-renown artist, Melvin Edwards, is sited at First and Harbor Drive. Future phases will offer different artwork enhancements to the promenade.
