The Aitta building is a direct extension of Nokia Mobile Phones, Phase I, however it is less formal in its delineation of space. To Nokia, a Finnish based corporation, it was important to create/recreate an environment for encouraging interaction and fostering balance for the highly competitive work environment.
It was imperative to Nokia that this 3 story, 150,000 s.f. office T.I., in a speculative office building, also reflect their corporate slogan “connecting people” This was accomplished by several means, two of which are the "TOPO" wall and the “TUPA”.
All three floors are connected by the "TUPA", which means “great room.” The Tupa splits down the center of the building and acts as a common, social gathering area to retreat from the "urban working environment."
All three floors are visibly accessible within the “TUPA”, thereby assuring that the 3rd floor is not disconnected from the 1st floor. This tenant improvement was in association with Davian + Studio.
